The Disney Wonder cruise ship signed an agreement with the Grand Bahama Port Authority in the year 2000 announcing Freeport, Grand Bahama to become one of its key cruise destinations for their Caribbean voyages. This prompted an extensive expansion and renovation of a dilapidated cruise ship facility that would soon receive 3,500 arriving passengers and transition them into various island excursions. A master plan and detailed design package was conceived and expedited consisting of a straw market, reception shelter, bus pick up, retail center and amphitheater. A highly coordinated design and intensive field oversight ensued to meet the client’s 6 month window to complete construction prior to the maiden arrival of the Disney Wonder Cruise Ship.
